Personality
Videle is the youngest member of the Aezudela royal family, and as such, she struggles with self-doubt. The king never seemed to have time for her as he was always off mentoring her older brother, Jorwalf. This means she spent an abundance of time with her mother and learning all of the manners and etiquette it would take to be a princess. However, Videle knew there was more to life. The strength always present in her mother's eye drew the young princess in. She knew she could not be resigned to simply marry and move on with life. There had to be more. As her mother taught her, she paid attention to people around her. Courtiers to her parents, as well as those not so fortunate, whom she would see when paraded through the capital and villages. She took notice of the disparities between people, and developed a keen sense of empathy. She is kind and gentle to all, no matter where they come from, or who they are. She always strives to warm the heart and soul, though she is not without a bit of snappiness and quick witted jokes. Many Elvish courtiers would say that she is her mother's daughter. However, she was never encouraged properly to act. The death of her mother left a void that no one was willing to fulfill. Her idealism and care for people never got to transform into action. Not out of a lack of desire, but because she was unsure of how to carry it out, and if she would be supported. After all, she always played second fiddle to her more military focused brother. This all bred insecurity, a feeling etched into her psyche that she would never be enough, that she could never accomplish her dream, or help anyone. She holds herself back often, but that does not diminish the light within her soul. Her constant mission is to see smiles on faces, and to be the joy she wants to see in people.
Backstory
Early Life: Videle was born to the Elvish queen Sierra on April 23rd, but her biological father was not the Elvish king, but the king of a rival kingdom, Teminith; and Romulus. Romulus forced himself upon Sierra as part of a peace treaty to end a decades long war in hopes of producing an heir, but Sierra never turned the child over to him. After seeing it was a girl, Romulus left the child alone. That child's name was Videle, meaning battle of the elves. Growing up, Videle's father was cold and distant with her, as he had discovered how she came to be. This was never common knowledge to the kingdom, so Videle had no trouble connecting outside the palace, but inside; she was an outcast. Often shut in her room, or only accompanied by her mother, who raised her to be a proper princess. That was Videle's only path in life, to find a suitor and marry. However, Videle always desired more. As a young child she grew an affinity for the arts, visual art, writing, and music. She studied relentlessly in an effort toPrincess: Videle's mother died suddenly when she was only 9, which put the responsibility of her care on her reluctant father. But he was not heartless, as a way to preserve his wife's memory, he embraced the child and finally allowed her to meet her brother, Jorwalf. The Crown Prince took an immediate liking to his younger half-sister, taking her under his wing and teaching her many of the skills he had learned in his training with Nagel, the king of Aezudela. The two siblings formed an unbreakable bond, with Videle taking on many of Jorwalf's outdoor interests like hunting and archery. Videle became an accomplished archer by the age of 15. By 16, suitors started lining up for her hand in marriage. Nagel engaged her to an heir of a longtime noble family named Borvik. Borvik treated her with contempt for the duration of their relationship. It wasn't until Nagel's tragic death in the Raid of Highrock that Videle was able to break off the engagement.Warrior: The Raid of Highrock created many changes in Videle's life. In addition to breaking up with her fiance after discovering he was in on a plot to kill Jorwalf in the raid, she also met the founding members of The Vanguard. Lisha Harren, Gaius Beladones and Elias Goldenheart gave Videle a unique perspective. The dedication and strong wills of her new friends inspired her to become more than just a princess. She was inspired by Lisha to fight for the downtrodden, by Gaius to show people the grace they need, by Elias to embrace what made her special.Light Keeper: The aftermath of the Raid left Videle with the Vanguard as they discovered the resting place of a collection of ancient powers known as the "Lights". Videle's unwavering heart and ever flexible empathy drew the eye of the Light of Ice, turning her into a Light Keeper. Given control over the element of ice.
Abilities/WeaponsAs a Light Keeper, Videle wields the element of Ice. This power is not derived from magic, but instead is a divine dominion over ice itself. She is able to manipulate it however she sees fit, able to freeze any water in the sea or the air, and shape it to her will. She uses this ability to create weapons out of ice, slide on ice paths, enchant weapons with the Light, and freeze enemies.Videle is also well versed in archery, having learned it from her brother and practicing consistently prior to the Raid. Other than that, her combat skills are average at best, with her real danger coming from her Light.
